In 2021, Turkey’s e-commerce volume will grow at a significant annual rate.

In 2021, Turkey’s e-commerce transaction volume will increase by 69% to 381.5 billion Turkish lira. Orders increased by 46% to 3 billion and 347 million from 2 billion and 297 million in the same period.

In 2021, e-commerce will account for 17.7% of total retail sales. In November, the percentage rose to 20.4%, dubbed the month of e-commerce activity.

While 92% (349 billion TL) of e-commerce in Turkey is processed, 4% comes from foreign cross-border purchases. The remaining 4% is used for purchases by the Turkish diaspora abroad.

In 2021, the number of companies carrying out e-commerce activities in Turkey will reach 484,347. 26,442 of these companies operate as service providers registered with the Electronic Commerce Information System (ETBIS), of which 472,604 operate on the e-commerce marketplace. The number of websites registered with ETBIS is 31,592. 14,699 companies in Turkey carry out e-commerce activities on their websites while selling on the e-commerce marketplace.

E-commerce spending analysis of Turkey’s population aged 18-70 in 2021 shows that per capita e-commerce spending will increase by 69% year-on-year in 2021, reaching 4,749 TL.
